The Heavens: Technical Overview
Core Mechanics
Fundamental Properties
- Authority Level: Ultimate (cannot be overruled by any power)
- Jurisdiction: All of Xeres and its associated Mystic Realms
- Primary Functions: Law enforcement, fate manipulation, power regulation
Direct Interventions
The Heavens can intervene in three primary ways:
- Tribulation Lightning
- Damage: Can auto-kill F through C grade beings
- Can send lightning in 6d6, 10d6, 20d6, 50d6 and 100d6 increments if needed
- Cannot be blocked, dodged, or resisted
- Divine Contracts
- Must have two willing participants
- Terms must be explicitly stated
- Breaking terms results in Tribulation Lightning
- Cannot be dispelled or broken by any means
- Geas
- Compulsory quest/task imposed on an individual
- Failing results in death
- Completion grants predetermined reward
- Cannot be removed except through completion
System Limitations
Power Restrictions
The Heavens enforce the following universal limitations:
- No being can achieve true godhood
- Maximum power level is capped at S-grade
- No magic can permanently alter reality
- Time manipulation limited to local effects
Enforcement Exceptions
The Heavens will not intervene in:
- Natural death
- Personal choices not affecting cosmic balance
- Fair combat
- Natural disasters
Mechanical Interactions
Grade System Integration
The Heavens directly control the grade system:
- F through S grade progression
- Evolutionary treasure generation
- Power scaling between grades
- Lifespan modifications
Magic System Control
The Heavens regulate magic through:
- Mana regeneration rates
- Spell effect limitations
- Magic item creation rules
- Soul cultivation requirements
